We like trying new creations, as well as enjoying old favourites. And to be honest, we don’t always fancy going out to do this. We enjoy having a drink at home with a good meal after work, or socialising with friends and family at theirs.
That’s why we started The Beer Rep!
You can choose the beers you want, at a time that suits you, without being locked into a monthly subscription. And you can mix and match beers from different breweries so you can sample a variety of styles and flavours.
Hello, I'm Martin, the creator of The Beer Rep. With over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, I started working aged 18 as a bar cellar man at a private members’ club. I served classic drinks like half a lager mixed with a Courage light ale (showing my age), Whitbread pale ale, and Directors on cask, while managing the cellar and ensuring the quality of the cask ales.
After that I joined Wetherspoons, where I stayed for 15 years as an Assistant Manager. Spoonies takes the management and condition of its ales seriously, so I learnt a lot there over the years and it got me interested in exploring new styles of beers. I also work on the Bermondsey Beer Mile at Mash Paddle which was established in 2022 and has quickly become a thriving brewery and tap room.
I've recently taken my passion for brewing to the next level and have started creating my own beers at home. I’ve also studied for the IBD General Certificate in Brewing, which provided me with a solid foundation in brewing practices and recipe development. I love experimenting with flavours and styles and some of my brews have been delicious - some a bit ‘interesting’, but any failure just gives me more appreciation for the art of brewing a perfect beer.
The idea for The Beer Rep was born very randomly during the early hours of a Spring morning. I woke up and couldn’t get the idea of creating an online indie craft beer store out of my head. My partner’s Dad is one of the founders of Magpie Brewery in Nottingham, and we often talk about how hard it is for small independent breweries to survive. The hospitality trade is still suffering after the financial strain of Covid, and selling to the public is really hard if they don’t know you exist. Enter The Beer Rep - an online shop specialising in selling a variety of quality indie craft beers from across the UK that you just can’t find on the supermarket shelves.
I focus on finding beers outside of the indie breweries’ core ranges - those limited edition releases that any true indie craft beer lover gets excited about when they drop. The beauty of The Beer Rep is that you get access to a great range of beers without the constraints of monthly subscriptions. You have the freedom to create your own boxes at a great price, selecting the beers you love or would love to try, when you want them.
